Really good fish & chips, shrimp & chips, crab-melt sandwich, burgers, main-dish salads, unique clam chowder. Local ambiance. Ask about their specials. (Sunset Magazine featured them in '07 as one of the Top Ten Best Fish & Chips on the West Coast...including Alaska, Hawaii & Canada)

Griff's on the Dock, 303 Dock Rd, 541.332.8985. 10:30am – 8pm Mon - Sat, 10:30am - 7:30pm Sun. Fresh seafood, sandwiches, fish and chips. Authentic, rustic dock atmosphere.

Hard Rain Cafe, Bakery & Espresso Bar, 1634 Oregon St, 541.332.6030. Mon, Tues, Thurs & Fri, 3 - 9pm, Sat & Sun, 8am - 9pm. Proponents of the slow-food movement, they make handcrafted pizza, salads, soups, pastas, artisan breads, pastries.

Jutta's Kitchen, a licensed/inspected food stand next to The Savoy Theater on Hwy 101, Wed - Sun, 10:30am - 4pm. Simple homemade foods - hot dogs, organic bean burrito, sandwiches, rice & veggies, ice cream (no canned fruit or veggies).

Paradise Café, 518 19th St, 541.221.8104. 6am – 2pm daily. Diner fare - burgers, breakfasts, sandwiches. Ice cream cones.

Paula’s Bistro & Lounge, 236 6th St (Hwy 101), 541.332.9378, Tues – Sat 5 - 9pm. They will be open Mother's day. Eclectic, creative cuisine. Fresh fish, perfectly roasted lamb, ribs and steaks. Gorgonzola pasta is a treat. Daily specials. Local art everywhere. Very responsive to dietary requests. Lounge/full bar, sometimes live music on weekends. (Sunset Magazine recommended them in the May '09 issue.)

Pitches Tavern, 325 6th St (Hwy 101), 541.332.9313. 11am – 11pm daily. Our local beer, wine and pool tavern with limited diner fare. Delicious burgers (seriously).

Port & Starboard Restaurant & Lounge, 460 Madrona Ave, 541.332.4515. 7am – 9pm daily, Lounge/full bar until 2am. Karaoke Thursday nights. Diner cuisine: seafood, steaks, prime rib, pizza, burgers.

Ray's Foods, 1555 Oregon St, 541.332.1185 Our local supermarket with a deli counter. Sandwiches, salads, deli options, hot entrees.

Redfish, 517 Jefferson St (Hwy 101, north end of Battle Rock Park), 541.366.2200. 7am – 10pm Wed - Sun. That rare restaurant where the food - and wine selections - live up to the ocean view (which is arguably the best on the coast). French bistro flair with fresh, local produce, seafood, beef and everything else they can get. A licensed fish buyer, so they can buy directly from fishermen for the freshest and most affordable catch. The chef is Patrick Zulick, who cooked for Thomas Keller at Bouchon in Las Vegas. Reservations important.

Seaweed Natural Grocery & Café, 832 Oregon St (Hwy 101), 541.332.3640. Mon – Sat 11am – 5pm. Organic healthy fare: roll-ups, soup, potato salad, veg slaw, muffins.

Siren's Cove Cafe, 1320 Oregon St (Hwy 101), Mon – Fri 7am – 8pm,  Sat & Sun 8am - 8pm. Good, fresh food: Breakfast sandwiches, hand-carved sandwiches, salads (their chicken curry salad sandwich is great), chili verde (People's Choice Chili winner), coffees and espresso drinks, hand-dipped Umpqua ice cream.
