Port Orford has three state parks here, probably an amazing fact for a town of only 1,200 people.

Port Orford Heads State Park
(#9 on the City Map)

This is a wonderful area to explore, with spectacular views of offshore rocks and sheltered coves from its hiking trails on an oceanside bluff overlooking Port Orford. You can see up and down the Pacific Coast.

The park also features the historic Coast Guard Lifeboat Station Museum. In late April/May, you'll find a beautiful display of wild irises. And, there's a large resident blacktail deer population; please treat them as the wild animals they are.

Garrison Lake & Tseriadun State Park
(#8/Tseriadun beach access on the City Map)

Within Port Orford is Garrison Lake, a pretty, medium-sized lake for boating recreation. On the south side of the lake, Tseriadun State Park offers beach access and ocean views extending from Port Orford Heads to Cape Blanco.

This is the best route to access Agate Beach, a great place to look for agates and jasper, especially at low tide after a storm.

Paradise Point State Park
(#8/Paradisebeach access on the City Map)

A great overlook for whale and storm watching, with a very rough trail down to an uncrowded beach, north of Agate Beach. It has no facilities, but the views are gorgeous, and since it faces west, it's a perfect place to see spectacular sunsets.

the distance, Humbug Mountain.
